Lisbon: A Photo Diary

After a year of learning Portuguese at university and having never set foot in the country, I decided that it was time to change this. So in Summer 2012, I set off with my boyfriend with hopes to falar um pouco português, to absorb the sights and sounds of the Portuguese capital, and to experience a little of the culture. Our trip was just short of a week and in that time we managed to see most of what the city had to offer and even explored a little further afield to the magical Pena National Palace in Sintra and charming seaside resort of Cascais.

Our rented apartment (Sapateiros Studio) in the heart of the Baixa district gave us a central and comfortable base, just minutes from a number of the main sights and attractions: Rossio Square, Bairro Alto, Alfama, Chiado and the Castle were all within walking distance. I would highly recommend the apartment although do be aware that the building itself has no lift and the studio was at the very top, on the 6th floor!

Have you been to Lisbon before? What did you think?

I would love to hear from your experiences in the comments!
